Woodward Camp Art Workshops, a Mural and an Art Battle

Posted on in Art Show/Event  |  0 Comments

Here’s a round up of my past week. It’s been one heck of ride. I went to Woodward Camp in Pennsylvania with Secret Walls courtesy of Loyal to the craft and met some amazing people.

First up special thanks to Secret Walls and crew for putting up with my nonsense and making me laugh over the 3 days. Couldn’t have done it without you guys. Also Thanks to Woodward staff for being amazing hosts and supporting our every need.

I delivered 3 art workshops over three days – character art design, lettering design and the art of collaboration. We painted skate decks, vans shoes and a group piece. Special thanks to Vans for supplying shoes and attending my design workshop and many artist friends who stopped in and everyone who helped to make these events happen.

I also painted a mural at Woodward camp Pennsylvania. Woodward is a playground for kids to skate, BMX, scooter, create art, and make music! The place is wild. I was asked to paint a 25’ x 8’ mural right next door to the pool. In 2.5 days, in 85 degrees and very humid conditions, no problem! I had lots of amazing assistance, Secret Walls staff, other artists and loads of campers jumped in to make this mural happen. Thank you.

The trip ended with a podcast recording with Loyal to the Craft – thanks for having us! And a secret walls battle! I went up against Trippydraws and we each had two campers from the workshops. It was an epic battle ending with some very cool art. Team wotto prevailed and won the crowds heart. Has to be the most amazing backdrop to a battle I’ve seen. Everyone won.

I had a blast, more importantly the kids had a blast and that was the whole point. Other highlights: Nick being shut in a freezer, Nick eating a spicy pickled sausage, Serena befriending every child on the camp, Serena also washing a million brushes, Terry getting confused about public transport. The fireflies, amazing locals in PA, darts, and campers parents thanking me for inspiring their child!
